Branchville runs two serious accidents involving Police Officers.
By Chief Mike Burrier
February 27, 2010
Chief 811 was dispatched as Battalion Chief 806 in the early morning hours for an MVA involving a Greenbelt City Police Officer. While on the way to report for duty, the Officer suffered serious injuries when the cruiser lost control on the Rt. 198 overpass due to extreme black ice conditions. The Officer was extricated from the vehicle and flown to a nearby Trauma Center.
While returning to the station, ECC Dispatched another MVA at 9035 Baltimore Ave. With the units from Co 811 already committed to another MVA on interstate 495 @ Kenilworth Av, Company 812 was alerted to the Baltimore Av call. Chief 811 arrived first to find a Prince Georges County Police Cruiser that had lost control, again on an overpass, while responding to an emergency. The officer was quickly removed from the vehicle and transported to a local trauma center where he remains in serious condition. No pictures from either of these accidents will be published by Company 811 to protect the identity of the two Police Officers.
The Branchville Volunteer Fire Co. And Rescue Squad Inc. would like to give their support to the two Officers and their families, as well as their fellow Officers, and wish them both a speedy recovery.
