First Due Fire
By Firefighter John Fitzpatrick
February 6, 2010
On the afternoon of February 4th, E811 at 1506 hours was alerted to the 9600 block of 52nd Ave for a possible shed fire. E811 and C811B responded with a total of six volunteers. As the crew was responding, they noticed a large column of smoke. Soon after that C811B arrived on scene of 9635 52nd Ave and reported a working house fire in a single story home, with heavy smoke showing. As the remainder of the assignment was being filled, the crew from E811 stretched an attack line to the front door and made entry with the crew from T814 as the rest of the units were checking up. Interior crews found zero visibility and high heat conditions. The crews from 11 and 14 worked together to locate a fire in several bedrooms with extension into the attic. With an aggressive interior attack the fire was knocked in ten minutes. Command held crews from 11 and 14 for extensive overhaul. E811 and C811B were ready at 1717.
