Fire Task Force Alarm For Eng Co 11

Shortly before 2:30 pm on Wednesday December 30, 2009 Engine 811 was dispatch as part of the Fire Task Force Alarm for smoke coming from a building in the 4000 block of Hamilton Street in Hyattsville
First arriving units reported heavy smoke coming from the basement area of the WSSC building at 4017 Hamilton St.
Firefighters enter the three-story building and reported they had located an electrical fire in the basement area of the building and had smoke on all three floors.
A Fire Task Force Alarm was transmitted bringing additional manpower and equipment to the scene.
According to Mark Brady, Public Information Officer for PG Fire, once the power was cut off to the building firefighters were able to extinguish the fire which was brought under control within 30 minutes of units arriving on the scene.
One firefighters was injured battling the fire, he was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threaten injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation
