Engine 811, along with units from College Park, Riverdale, Hyattsville and others, was alerted to a reported house fire in the 7000 block of Baltimore Ave.
First arriving units arrived to find smoke and fire showing from the basement of a two-story detached dwelling. Engine 811 advanced the 400 ft line and two racks to the second floor of the house to control extension as firefighters were extinguishing the blaze in the basement.
Firefighters brought the fire under control within 15 minutes. One firefighter was injured and was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. Five people were displaced as a result of the fire.
