By Station Sergeant Peter Raia III
February 26, 2012

At 3:43 am, the Engine Crew was woken up for a Dwelling Fire on the 8000 Blk of 18th Ave. Engine 11 quickly responded out the door with a total of 6 volunteers. While Engine 11 was coming down the cross street, Engine 34 arrived on scene and reported heavy fire side charlie of a one in the front two in the back, two story, single family dwelling. The crew from Engine 11 arrived shortly after, stretch a 200' 2inch line off 34's Wagon and was told to check the basement and start fire attack on side charlie. At side charlie, Engine 11's crew was met with heavy fire on the basement and division one levels and initiated an interior attack. Engine 11's crew extinguished fire on the basement level and then was sent out of the building due to evacuation tones and was told to regroup for another interior push. After a quick regroup, the engine crew was sent to division one via ground ladder through a window and started an interior attack on the heavy fire conditions in the rear bedrooms, kitchen and porch area. After an aggressive attack, Engine 11's crew operated with assisting in an extensive overhaul and extension check. After approx 2.5 hrs of operation Engine 11 racked up and went back in service.
