It is with deep regret that the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department must announce the passing of 25 Year Life Member James “Guppy” Davis. Guppy suffered a sudden and unexpected medical emergency on the morning of Wednesday May 16 in his home, and was taken to Doctors Community Hospital emergency department. From there, he was transferred to the hospitals intensive care unit. Unfortunately the medical staff did everything they could but were unable to save him.

Guppy was dedicated to public service and to the well-being of others. He was well known for arriving on scenes of major incidents to snap candid photos or videos of crews on scene. Guppy also would stop by local fire stations to sell t-shirts and hats that many firefighters around Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia would wear on a daily basis.

Rest in peace Guppy. You will be missed.

Funeral Services are forthcoming.

Mr. Jim taught me everything I know about firefighters. He was a great friend and helped so many people, including me. I will never forget him.
